So much more than a formulaic catalogue musical, Jersey Boys chronicals the journey up the showbiz ladder of one of the 60's and 70's iconic songsters. Their early brushes with organised crime, through the supper clubs and finally to the multi-million sales that radio exposure afforded them.
Despite the sometimes sordid trail they travelled you can't help but walk out of the theatre feeling uplifted by the music of not just one, but several generations.
Staged on a very simple set, Jersey Boys lets the story and the music tell its tale. For once, a show that doesn't rely on trick sets and flashy special effects to get in the way of narrative.
